Observed annually around the new moon of Baishak in the Hindu Lunar Calendar, the festival, as known as Aamako Mukh Herne Din (Mother’s Day), invites all to express heartfelt devotion to maternal figures.

Understanding the Heart of Mother’s Day and Mata Tirtha Aunsi

More than just a date on the calendar, Mata Tirtha Aunsi is a poignant reminder of the vital role maternal figures play in shaping young lives. It is a day to honour their unseen emotional labour, countless sacrifices, and unwavering love. It mirrored countless similar gatherings across the country during Mata Tirtha Aunsi, where family and food come together in celebration.

At 3 P.M., as the afternoon sun softened over Lalitpur, the traditional tika ceremony began. Each child, eyes shining with anticipation, stepped forward to receive the auspicious red mark on their forehead from Miss Saru. This time-honoured gesture, deeply rooted in Hindu culture, symbolizes love, protection, and blessings.

In the quiet, sacred moment, every child was reminded that they are cherished. The tika served as a spiritual anchor-a moment of affirmation and belonging, resonating with the festival’s spirit across homes and temples alike.

Nepali New Year 2082 Celebration at the Children’s Home

Final Examinations 2081- Celebrating Success, Embracing New Beginnings

As the academic year 2081 comes to a close, we are proud to highlight the final exam achievements of the children from Children’s Home, who attend Asmita English School in Bhainsepati, Lalitpur. The school’s motto, “Education is the key to life”, continues to guide and inspire our children to strive for excellence and unlock their full potential.

This year, 32children from Children’s Home – from LKG to Grade 7 appeared in the final examination. Of them, 19 are girls and 13 are boys. Each child has put in commendable effort, and their performance is a reflection of their dedication, discipline, and love for learning.

Exams are more than just tests- they are opportunities to learn, grow, and reflect. They help children understand what they know, where they can improve, and how far they’ve come. Beyond academics, exams also build critical life skills such as time management, focus, resilience, and goal-setting.

At Children’s Home, we believe that every examination is a stepping stone toward a brighter future. Whether the result is excellent or an eye-opener, each experience adds value to the student’s journey.

We are especially proud to announce some exceptional recognition this year:

Salman Nepali (Grade 5) was awarded Best Student of the Year for his outstanding academic performance and discipline. He also secured 3^rd position in his class.

On the 5^th of April, the Children’s Home was filled with laughter, bright colors, and joyful energy as we welcomed a group of enthusiastic students from Amics del Nepal. Their visit centered around a delightful face painting activity, aimed at bringing creativity and happiness to the children. The result was a vibrant day of fun, expression, and connection that left lasting smiles on everyone’s faces.

Holi Celebration: A Festival of Colors and Joy

Holi, the festival of colors, was celebrated with immense joy and enthusiasm at our children’s home on March 13, 2025. The event brought together all the children and staff in a vibrant celebration filled with laughter, excitement, and cultural appreciation.

The Significance of Holi

Holi holds great cultural, social, and spiritual importance. It is a festival that brings people together, transcending social barriers and differences. The vibrant colors of Holi represent the diversity of life and the joy of embracing unity in diversity.

From a spiritual perspective, Holi signifies the triumph of good over evil. The festival originated from Hindu mythology, particular the story of Prahlad, a devoted follower of Lord Vishnu, and his aunt Holika, who tried to destroy him. The burning of Holika and the survival of Prahlad symbolize the victory of righteousness and faith.

Holi also marks the transition from winter to spring, welcoming nature’s renewal and abundance. It is an occasion to celebrate new beginnings, let go of negativity, and embrace happiness. Families and communities come together to celebrate, reinforcing bonds of love and friendship. Traditionally, Holi also serves as a time for reconciliation, where past misunderstandings are forgiven, and relationships are strengthened.

On November 16, 2024, students from Grade 8 and 9 from Experiential Learning (EL) program of Amics del Nepal visited Children’s Home to organize a event centered on Environment and Sustainability, with a particular focus on waste management and the challenges of plastic pollution. The event aimed to educate the children about pressing environmental issues and motivate them to adopt sustainable practices to protect the environment.

The event was filled with engaging activities that captured the children’s attention. Some children dressed as garbage, dustbins, and the Earth to creatively emphasize the importance of keeping the planet clean. The students introduced the concept of 3Rs- Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle, explaining how simple actions can lead to better waste management and cleaner environment. Informative presentations covered key topics like proper waste disposal, types of pollution (water, air, and climate change-related issues), and the harmful effects of littering and plastic use.

Children’s Home Dancers Steals the Show at Ashmita English School Dance Competition

On 29th October, the atmosphere at Ashmita English School was filled with excitement as students showcased their talents in a highly anticipated dance competition. This year, children from Children’s Home participated with great enthusiasm and delivered remarkable performances.

In the junior dance category, Latika from Class 4 and Sushma from Class 6 represented the Yellow House. Their dynamic performance to a mixed song won them the first place, reflecting their excitement teamwork and vibrant energy,

In the senior category, Sitashma from Grade 8, representing the Green House, mesmerized the audience with her solo performance of the song “Sakela”. Her expressive and graceful movements secured her the first place, highlighting her dedication.

Importance of Dance

Dance holds a significant place in our lives, serving as a medium for expression, and physical fitness. It allows individuals to convey emotions and stories through movements, fostering creativity and emotional release. It brings people together, promoting social interaction and unity.
